Getting in

There is no airport in Pridnestrovie (Transnistria). Therefore, visitors need to come by road or rail from Ukraine or from the Republic of Moldova.

Edit: as the border with Ukraine is currently closed, the only way to enter Pridnestrovie is through the Republic of Moldova. We will update this article when the situation changes.

Coming by plane

The closest - and therefore most convenient - airport is Chisinau airport, in the Republic of Moldova. From there, you can take a bus or a taxi to Tiraspol, our capital city.

It is also possible to use the Romanian airport of Iași, which is located by the Moldovan border.

Depending of your country of citizenship, you might need a visa to transit through these countries.

Train to Tiraspol or Bendery

Update: as of March 27, 2022, the trains are not running due to the situation in Ukraine.

Minibuses from Moldova

Minibuses leave Chișinău from the Central bus station (GARA CHISINAU CENTRU) to the bus and train station in Tiraspol. Many of them also stop by Bendery if you want to visit it first.

There are many buses every hour from about 6 am to 7pm.

The buses are behind the Central bus station. There is a window from where you can buy your ticket before getting in the bus.

If you want to go directly to Dubassari or Rybnitsa, you can take a bus from GARA NORD, which is a bit outside the center of Chisinau.

You can let the driver know you are a tourist, so that he is aware that you need to make a migration card at the border (locals don't need it, they just show their ID without getting out of the bus).

Taxi from Moldova

Taxi is the fastest and most comfortable option to reach Pridnestrovie.

It costs between 20 and 30 dollars to reach Tiraspol from the center of Chisinau (a bit less from the airport), and the same price to Rybnitsa.

To get the best rates, I would suggest to use a Pridnestrovian company that will come to take you from your city of destination. Moldovan drivers are usually more expensive and sometimes unwilling to drive there.
